Kelud Montain

Kelud (Klut, Cloot, Kloet, Kloete, Keloed or Kelut) is a volcano located in East Java on Java in Indonesia, exactly in border line of Blitar. Like many Indonesian volcanoes and others on the Pacific Ring of Fire, Kelud is known for large explosive eruptions throughout its history. More than 30 eruptions have occurred since 1000 AD.

Before 2007 Kelud has crater lake on the top which later after October 2007, there were tremor shock-wave and Kelud become "AWAS" status and people were prepare for the eruption. But they did not have the explosion in Kelud at that time, instead the lake have increasing temperature rapidly with white smoke came out of it. Later Kelud grow its lava dome in the crater ,and getting bigger trough time until the lake disappears and was replaced by the lava dome.

We went there on January 2009 in rainy season, in the morning and not expect to see a sunrise. But by the time we went down from the peak, the mist is already everywhere, so better to go in summer.
